Louisiana Plum
logo & brand identity design | august 2024
Louisiana Plum is a clothing brand helmed and created by Nicole Schmitt, that’s all about comfortable, festival-friendly and handmade clothing. Nicole came to me needing a logo and the basics of a brand identity so that she could officially launch her brand.
Together we defined what is at the core of Louisiana Plum as well as establish a long-lasting identity that will carry this brand from infancy to maturity.
Strategic Overview
Louisiana Plum aims to become a recognizable staple among Southern festival-goers by offering hand-made, joy-filled clothing that’s as comfortable as it is beautiful. Their core customer is a free-spirited New Orleanian in her twenties—someone who lives for festival season and loves to support local makers.
Rooted in New Orleans culture, Louisiana Plum stands out by using locally sourced, natural fabrics and showcasing founder Nicole’s distinct, festive fashion perspective. The brand’s tone mirrors Nicole herself—bright, casual, and full of fun-loving charm.

Visual Identity
Logo Design
Louisiana Plum needed an adaptable logo to fit tags, signage and digital storefront restrictions. So, I designed a combination logo that could be separated into individual parts - a wordmnark & logo mark - to achieve adaptability.
To call on the hand-crafted aspect of the brand the plum blossom was hand-drawn and the font was modified give the logo a sense of playful individualism.
Supporting Elements
A cohesive color palette, intentional typography, and a brand pattern were all that I felt that Nicole needed as the stepping stones to maintain a long-lasting brand identity. I used this elements to call upon fashion-minded side of Louisiana Plum’s persona - bright, retro, breezy and joyful.
I needed a logo and had seen Samantha's work for years on Instagram, so I knew that she could create something far better than what I was trying to pull off. She took my rough business ideas and turned them into a beautiful logo along with a color palette & examples of what it would look like on various media. She was also very communicative through the whole process. I liked seeing all the pieces come together into this beautiful package, and it was so much more detailed than I had imagined. I appreciate every bit of guidance along the way. I would definitely recommend Something New Designs for graphic design.
